Insight into Drying Paints

Supporting one of our top final-year students to work on a summer project can be an excellent way to get a taster of what we can do for you.

AkzoNobel is the largest global paint and coatings company producing well known UK Decorative paint brands such as Dulux, Glidden, Cuprinol and Hammerite. Through working with ECFP, scientists at AkzoNobel gained new insights into the processes of film formation and drying within their paints.

Innovation vouchers provide an ideal route for Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) to take advantage of the expertise of academics and facilities at the University of Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh Complex Fluids Partnership (ECFP) engaged with the new start-up company PAWSitively Natural under an innovation voucher scheme from the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA) to explore whether the principles of soft matter physics could be applied to improve the physical stability of biscuits.
