Fraser Laidlaw

Instrument Scientist

Fraser completed his PhD in the Microscopy group at the University of Warwick, as part of the Diamond Science and Technology Centre for Doctoral Training. His PhD focused on the use of various electron microscopy techniques, including TEM, STEM, SEM and FIB to study the origin of brown colouration in natural diamond. Fraser is the instrument scientist in charge of the cryo-FIB-SEM facility.

Fraser’s research interests lie in the application of electron microscopy and data analysis techniques to investigate the structure of materials, and the link to their physical properties.
