Paul is Professor of Applied Physics at Edinburgh University with a research focus on novel soft materials. He specialises in emulsions and emulsification, soft composite materials (including particles, binary fluids, surfactants, liquid crystals, and polymers), and colloidal particles at liquid interfaces. He has experience in the applications of soft materials within the food, personal care, crop science and energy sectors.
