Research

New ideas are generated through academic blue sky research and industrially-led research projects. The Edinburgh Complex Fluids Partnership is embedded within a world-leading soft matter research group, enriched by a blend of around 45 experimental researchers, computer simulation scientists and theoretical physicists with our numbers doubling to include PhD students. Ideas and discoveries are exchanged along shared corridors, coffee rooms at seminars and journal clubs.

Programme Grant

ECFP has a key role in delivering impact from the results of the academic led £5M EPSRC funded Programme Grant, "Design Principles for New Soft Materials."

Industry-Led Research

ECFP is a key partner in industrially-led collaborative research and is working with local, national and European partners.

Academic Grants

The Soft Matter Group also has funding in the form of grants and fellowships from numerous sources.

Publications

ECFP is embedded within the Soft Matter and Biological Physics research group and publications are produced on a regular basis.

Personal fellowship

Many of our academics and postdoctoral researchers hold personal fellowships.
