Dr Andreia Silva

Andreia is a bioengineer with a PhD in complex fluids that has been using physical, chemical and mechanical techniques to understand both the macroscopic and microscopic behaviour of complex fluids and the contribution of isolated components with the aim of developing new formulations.

Andreia works for ECFP under the project “Formulating Value Chains for Orphan Crops in Africa”. In this project, a number of African crop grains that show functional properties, or that due to their high protein content have the potential to replace other ingredients in common recipes are being studied, via rheological, microscopy and surface stability analysis.
