Exploration of a robotic swimmer

Crover Ltd

Zubin Roy, a physics student at Edinburgh, completed a placement with Crover. The company have developed a first-of-its-kind robot that “swims” through cereals and grains, allowing farmers to monitor silo stores and ensure that disease or spoilage is identified quickly and dealt with. Zubin’s project investigated whether and how the robot mixes grains as it moves. He says that the studentship “allowed me to experience life at a young tech start-up company which gave me a much greater understanding of the sort of organisation I would want to work for in the future.” The work resulted in the creation of a PhD project with the university to continue the partnership.
